Client Success: Client receives award of attorneys’ fees under principles of equity

On November 2, 2009, an arbitration award was entered in a case involving the attempted lock out of a law partner. The arbitrator is preparing a final wind-up accounting and dissolution.

BLG obtained two TROs and one preliminary injunction a year ago to restore the status quo. Then Pete Buck used self help to physically enforce the court’s preliminary injunction by blocking an office door as a number of people were attempting  to remove records. The Seattle Police were called but found nothing wrong with Pete’s efforts. Thanks to the Seattle Athletic Club for keeping then 62-year-old Pete in physical shape to stand down the young turks. In addition to principles of equity the arbitrator found that fees could be awarded under Li v. Tang, 87 Wn.2d 796, 799-800 (1976.)
